🌾

Food moths (flour moths, pantry moths) colonise cupboards, pantries and stocks. They often enter via a contaminated packet at purchase and spread within weeks across all flour-based products: flour, pasta, rice, cereals, dried fruit, biscuits.

Our treatment combines pheromone traps (to track the population) and targeted spraying in emptied cupboards. Without professional treatment, infestations recur constantly.

How to spot the problem

The signs to identify

Small beige moths

Moths 8-10 mm flying around the kitchen, especially in the evening. Beige to light brown.

Silk threads in packets

White threads in flour, pasta, cereals, dried fruit. Presence of larvae (small white worms) that spin this silk.

Small holes in packaging

Pierced cartons and bags, caterpillars climbing to cupboard ceilings to pupate.

Why act fast

The risks of leaving an infestation untreated

Contamination of stocks

Once installed, moths progressively spoil all dry goods. Low toxicity but significant waste.

Professional impact

For bakeries, grocers, restaurants: FAVV risk and reputation damage without fast action.

Methodology

Traps + targeted spraying

Treatment combines three levers: removing contaminated products, treating cupboards, and pheromone traps for population monitoring.

  1. 1

    Inspection and sorting

Identification of contaminated stocks, targeted removal. We help you distinguish what can be saved.

  2. 2

    Cupboard spraying

Emptied, cleaned cupboards sprayed with a food-approved certified insecticide. After drying, restock in airtight containers.

  3. 3

    Pheromone traps

Attract and trap males, interrupting reproduction. Also lets us monitor population changes.

  4. 4

    Prevention advice

Best storage practices: glass jars, packet inspection on purchase, stock rotation.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to throw out my whole kitchen?
No. We identify contaminated products precisely (silk threads, larvae). The rest, stored in airtight glass jars, is preserved.
How to prevent return?
Store flour, pasta and rice in airtight glass jars. Clean cupboards with vinegar quarterly. Inspect packets on purchase.
